Postnatal support and mentoring for first-time mums

The sweet joy of motherhood
You may well be wondering how and why postnatal education and mentoring can make such a signficant difference, especially
if you are a first-time mum.
Newborns develop at an astonishing rate! And as they grow and adapt to each physical and neurological progression, their behaviours and needs change accordingly, often on a week-by-week basis. These developments and leaps bring so much joy and delight, but can also raise challenges, concerns and many questions along the way.
Why is my baby suddenly becoming fussy? Am I producing enough milk? How do I know what my newborn needs? Is it ok to feed on demand? Am I holding my baby too much?
Why can't I fix this? Am I doing ok? Am I a good mum?
I have so many questions - help!
My role is to help inform you about what is going on in any given week, why it’s going on and to chat through tips and tweaks you and your partner might want to implement,
to help ease your journey through each and every stage.
As I listen to you, guide you and ‘normalise’ what you are experiencing, you will grow in skill, understanding and self-assurance, as well as relief that you are doing ok,
even with some bumps along the way!
I am BIG on self-care, helping you to re-define your self-expectations; encouraging you to bond with your baby and to focus on feeding and snuggles, rather than bustling around,
trying to keep on top of everything!
You matter more!
Also, I am not a doctor, nor a therapist. If you have any medical concerns, I will advise you to connect with your GP. If I feel you would benefit from seeing an expert specialist about a specific issue (ie lactation/sleep), I will make recommendations. I will never impose a
‘you should’ or ‘you ought’, but simply talk through possible options,
so you and your partner can make informed choices.

thrive post birth
As your mentor, I will share with you evidence-based guidance on all things mum, baby and beyond, as you navigate your way through this extraordinary time of change. Our gentle and educational conversations will be different each time, covering:
-
Newborn Care
Feeding; bonding & attachment; swaddling & baby-wearing; newborn sleep; wake windows; newborn development; daytime routines; soothing; bathing; baby cues and more.
-
Self-Care
Guidance about nutrition and well-being; self-kindness; sibling transition and how to stay connected to your partner. I will encourage you, listen to you and help empower you to be the mum you want to be.
my in-home support
I offer in-home support for families in west &
south-west London (and other areas on request).
My services range from a one-off troubleshoot session, to more regular sessions throughout the 4th Trimester and beyond. Each session will last 2-3 hours (depending on location). I will supplement our sessions with summary notes for you to refer to.
I also offer both a prenatal session prior to the birth (if required), as well as a post birth visit to help set you up for your first night - to be a calming and knowledgeable presence, when you bring your baby home.
If you're not sure where to start, I'd be happy to jump on a complimentary call to discuss your needs and how I can support you through this exciting new chapter.
